This magnificent and important Dutch mahogany bureau bookcase is exuberantly carved and adorned with superb figural carvings, impressive scrolled feet and elaborate applied decoration. Such lavish works as this were considered status symbols and were much more ornate than their English counterparts. The cabinet is in excellent condition.
