This adult-sized double blood bag can collect 450ml /- 45ml of whole blood and separate it into two components: packed red blood cells and plasma. Each foil pack contains 5 bags, with the satellite bag holding up to 300ml. A 16g needle is used for blood collection. The red blood cell unit has a shelf life of 35 days when stored at 4°C.

Processing whole blood into packed red blood cells and fresh frozen plasma within 8 - 12 hours of collection preserves its clotting factors. When using this method, the red blood cells can be stored for 4 - 6 weeks at 4°C, while the fresh frozen plasma can be stored for 1 - 2 years at -18°C, ensuring that both components remain usable for extended periods of time. Additionally, processing whole blood into these components prevents the loss of clotting factors and allows for their efficient and timely use.
